چکیده
Abstract In 2017, the base population of a family-based silver carp ( Hypophthalmichthys molitrix ) genetic improvement program was spawned in Bangladesh. This aims to improve growth rate under polyculture production systems, through direct selection on primary trait harvest-age weight. The objective this study quantify variation in, and correlations between, weight (assessed 8012 fish from 184 families) set secondary traits 1603 175 families). Secondary examined included feeding digestive system (i.e. gill raker sponginess gut length as ratio standard length), morphometric extent overlap pectoral pelvic fins) health presence Lernaea prevalence red spots — sites inflammation/haemorrhaging). Despite not being selection, change is possible across generations closed populations result correlated response for indirect selection), adaptation culture conditions, inbreeding and/or drift. It found that additive variance within groups significantly different zero all but studied traits. Heritability estimates pectoral/pelvic fin were moderate (0.24 0.22, respectively) low score relative (0.12 0.09, respectively). Genetic between zero, indicating will

Aspects of Embryonic and Larval Development in Bighead Carp Hypophthalmichthys nobilis and Silver Carp Hypophthalmichthys molitrix
As bighead carp Hypophthalmichthysnobilis and silver carp H. molitrix (the bigheaded carps) are poised to enter the Laurentian Great Lakes and potentially damage the region's economically important fishery, information on developmental rates and behaviors of carps is critical to assessing their ability to establish sustainable populations within the Great Lakes basin. In laboratory experiments,...

Reexamining the frequency range of hearing in silver (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) and bighead (H. nobilis) carp
Silver (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) and bighead (H. nobilis) carp (collectively bigheaded carp) are invasive fish that threaten aquatic ecosystems in the upper Midwest United States and the Laurentian Great Lakes. Controlling bigheaded carp is a priority of fisheries managers and one area of focus involves developing acoustic deterrents to prevent upstream migration. For an acoustic deterrent ...
متن کاملPathogenicity of Aeromonas hydrophila in Silver Carp Hypophthalmichthys molitrix and its Control Trial
Pathogenicity of Aeromonas hydrophila, previously isolated from kidney of apparently healthy silver carp, was tested in silver carp Hypophthalmichthys molitrix. Trials were also made to control the pathogen in the experimentally infected fish. Before artificial infection the morphological, biochemical and physiological characters of A. hydrophila were studied. The infection was done by intramus...

Bioaccumulation and risk assessment of microcystins (MCs) in muscle of silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) from eight eutrophic lakes along the Yangtze River of China were examined by using liquid chromatography electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry. MCs contents in seston collected from these eutrophic lakes ranged from 0.02 to 21.7 μg/L. MCs concentrations in silver carp muscle samp...
